Villandry, Langeais, Ussé, Chinon, Saumur, Azay-le-Rideau, Chenonceau, Chaumont, Blois, Chambord – to name only a few. Enjoy the splendid sights during your cycle holiday in France.

Day 1 - Individual arrival in Tours
Discover today the historic centre of Touraine, the much-vaunted 'Garden of France'. Example of hotel: Hotel Ibis Styles CentreDay 2 - From Tours to Chinon, approx. 55 km
The Cher River leads you straight to Villandry Castle with its terraced gardens. Of course, a visit to this famous garden is not to be missed. Shady walkways, flower-lined arbours, fountains and the artfully laid out vegetable garden will amaze every visitor. A few kilometres further on, you swap the banks of the Chers for those of the Loire, and the next castle beckons: Langeais. One look from the fortified tower (this castle was used exclusively for military purposes) and the river and the entire surrounding countryside lie before you. At the edge of the dark and mysterious forest of Chinon rises Ussé Castle, the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Via small villages and side roads, you approach your destination today, Chinon. Example of hotel: Hotel Rive SudDay 3 - Round trip Fontevraud l´Abbaye, approx. 55 km
The Vienne leads you first to the small village of Candes-St-Martin. A magnificent Romanesque church was built at the place where Saint Martin died. In Montsoreau, the Vienne joins the mighty Loire - an impressive natural spectacle. The 'cave gardens' have a length of over 800 kilometres. The route leads through well-tended vineyards to Fontevraud l'Abbaye. Nowhere else in the world can you find a medieval monastery complex as completely preserved as Fontevraud. This is followed by a 'literary return journey' to Chinon. Your route takes you past the birthplace of the important writer Francois Rabelais, as well as through the valley where the plot of his famous book 'Gargantua' is set. Example of hotel: Hotel Rive SudDay 4 - From Chinon to Azay-le-Rideau, approx. 40 km
You leave Chinon, with its medieval alleys squeezed between the river and the fortress, heading north. Your way leads you through old vineyards and lonely villages to Crissay, which with its 15th century houses is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Of course, you can marvel at a castle again today, and one of special quality: Azay-le-Rideau, a Renaissance castle of the highest perfection. 'A diamond with a thousand facets, set in the Indre' wrote Balzac. What more could we add to that? You will spend the night directly in the village and thus have the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the castle with its cultural events. Example of hotel: Hotel DiderotDay 5 - From Azay-le-Rideau to Chenonceaux, approx. 60 km
A scenic highlight lies ahead: through the romantic river landscape, always following the Indre, you reach the pretty little town of Montbazon. A short climb awaits, a few strong pedals and you will cross a small ridge into the valley of the Cher River. On meadow paths along the river bank to Bléré, a small market town, and on to your historic overnight stop in Chenonceaux with its castle. Chenonceau Castle is probably the most beautiful of all the Loire castles and is enthroned in a unique location. A magnificent two-storey bridge gallery stretches across the river and in front of it the magnificent château garden delights... but see and discover for yourself. Example of hotel: Hotel RelaisDay 6 - From Chenonceaux to Blois, approx. 50-80 km
Two options await your decision today: The shorter stage takes you through the lovely countryside of Touraine to Chaumont Castle and from here along romantic paths along the Loire to Blois. After checking into your room, you set off to explore. Blois Castle with its galleries, projecting balconies, oriels and aspens could be your destination. Or the second, longer option, for all lovers of Loire castles: via Montrichard, Cheverny, Villesavine to Chambord Castle. The 'Domaine de Chambord' stretches as far as the eye can see. Even from afar, you can see the walls of this largest and most magnificent residence of the Loire shimmering through the trees, the imperishable legacy of a faithless king. The choice is yours. Example of hotel: Hotel Le MonarqueDay 7 - From Blois to Tours, approx. 75 km
The river flows leisurely between shimmering golden sandbanks. Characteristic of this area are the cliff dwellings built directly into the soft limestone, so that sometimes only the rising smoke betrays their existence. You cross the Loire briefly to pay tribute to the most regal of all Loire castles: Amboise Castle. It has been home to five kings and a Roman emperor. It also attracts the attention of a 16th century genius, Leonardo da Vinci, who spent his last years here in Amboise. You then continue cycling along the Loire cycle path to Tours. Or you can change to the train in Amboise (on your own) and shorten the stage by about 30 km. Example of hotel: Hotel Ibis Styles CentreDay 8 - Individual departure or extra nights
