The golden city of Prague, which inspires visitors with its impressive buildings and historic old town centre full of sights, marks the start of your cycling tour through Czechia and Germany. From here, you will cycle at a leisurely pace, always accompanied by the River Elbe. The route takes you along romantic river landscapes, past vineyards, sandstone cliffs and lovingly restored towns. The destination of your leisurely cycling tour is the cultural city of Dresden, which, with its Baroque architecture and lively history, forms a fitting finale.

Day 1 - Individual arrival in Prague
You start your cycling holidays along the Elbe cycle path in Prague.

In the ‘Golden City' of Prague, countless sights await you, which you can discover before starting your cycle tour on the Elbe Cycle Route. A stroll across the famous Charles Bridge takes you right into the heart of the city, while Prague Castle and the Royal Palace tower high above the Vltava River. Wander through the historic old town, enjoy the lively atmosphere in the narrow streets or let yourself be enchanted by the diverse cultural life.

Today, your cycle tour takes you along the Vltava River to Melnik, in the heart of the Bohemian wine-growing region. This charming village is picturesquely situated on a hill and invites you to take a pleasant break. From the castle hill, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers – an absolute highlight of your cycle tour along the Elbe Cycle Route from Prague to Dresden.

Today's stage takes you via Roudnice to the former fortress town of Terezín. On well-maintained cycle paths, you can enjoy the peaceful Bohemian countryside before reaching Litoměřice a few kilometres later. Here, it is worth taking a look at the famous Chalice House, a historic landmark of the town that combines history and architecture in a unique way.

On this stage, you will cycle through Ústí nad Labem and follow the course of the Elbe past the imposing ruins of Schreckenstein Castle. Your cycle tour continues to Děčín, where the impressive Baroque castle with its elegant architecture will delight you. Frédéric Chopin was inspired to compose music here.

On the Elbe Cycle Route, you will soon reach the German border. To the left and right, the impressive rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains rise up, giving this route its special charm. Today's stage ends in the picturesque spa town of Bad Schandau (Krippen district) or in charming Pirna, which invites you to stroll around with its magnificent town houses and historic alleys.

The last stage of your cycle tour along the Elbe Cycle Route takes you past the impressive Königstein Fortress, which offers breathtaking views of the Elbe Valley. The route continues along the Elbe to the magnificent Pillnitz Castle before reaching Dresden. Here you will pass the famous ‘Blue Wonder' bridge and other historic castles along the Elbe. Dresden's magnificent old town with its baroque buildings, cosy alleys and cultural highlights invites you to explore at your leisure.

Today the cycling holidays end and you can choose a return transfer by bus from Dresden to Prague (for more details please see rates).
Hotel note: We make every effort to book the hotels mentioned by name. However, if one is not available, we will switch to an equivalent company.
Parking possibilities during your cycle holiday along the River Elbe cycle path:
Long-term parking is not possible in the hotels in Prague. In the near of the hotels and at the Holešovice train station there are public, guarded and unguarded parking lots (subject to charges). Underground parking is available in the city center for 700 - 800 CZK/ approx. 30 EUR per day. The costs are to be paid directly on the spot.
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to the 28th day before departure
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before departure
50% of the tour price from the 13th to the 8th day before departure
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before departure
90% of the tour price from the 3rd day before departure until the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes to the booking (date of travel, tour, duration, transfer of the booking to another person etc.) up to 28 days before departure, for reasons which are outside our control, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,- per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

In case of a booking your announced data will be only used from OÖ Touristik GmbH for the process of bookings and related transactions and will be passed on only in the context of the contractual relationship to third parties. The combination of travel services offered to you is a package within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302.
This ensures that you will benefit from all EU rights applicable to packages. Company OÖ Touristik GmbH will be fully responsible for the proper performance of the package as a whole.
Additionally, as required by law, the company OÖ Touristik GmbH has protection in place to refund your payments and, where transport is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in the event that it becomes insolvent.
