Are you planning your next cycling holiday and still have some questions? In our FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions), you’ll find answers to the most common queries about our cycling tours – from booking and itineraries to special services.
We want you to feel completely at ease with us. If you cannot find a suitable answer here, we are of course also available to assist you personally – by email or telephone.

What types of cycling tours does OÖ Touristik offer?
All cycling and mountain biking tours are self-guided, meaning you cycle on your own without a tour leader or guide. You will receive detailed travel documents and GPX data for each day.
For a few selected cycling and boat tours, a guided cycling tour is available at an additional cost.
Our portfolio includes both challenging tours and leisurely cycling holidays. However, please note that a cycling holiday is only suitable to a limited extent for people with special needs.
How do I book my cycling tour?
- Online booking: All our tours can be booked 24/7 using the online booking form.
- By email: When booking by email, we require the following information: name of the tour, arrival date, additional services, extra nights, full address, telephone number, names and addresses of all fellow travellers, and for children, their age (child discount).
When booking hire bikes, please also specify heights and bike types.
Please also let us know if you wish to book cancellation or comprehensive insurance.
Please note that we do not accept bookings by telephone.
Can I book at short notice?
Depending on availability, we accept bookings for cycling, hiking and mountain biking trips up to 10 days before the desired arrival date.
Reason: the preparatory work for travel documents, luggage transfer, hotel bookings, etc.
What discounts are available?
We offer the following discounts and bonuses: regular customer discount, early bird bonus and group discount. You can find further information here.
Child discounts vary depending on the trip and are listed in the price section.
When and where can I book extra nights?
Extra nights or extended stays are possible at most of the start and end points of our tours. On many tours with daily arrivals, stopovers during the trip can also be extended – but only if you specify this when making your booking enquiry. Please let us know your requirements directly in the online booking form under ‘Additional services’ or when making your enquiry by phone or email.
Detailed information on extra nights and the corresponding prices can be found in the price table or in the booking form under ‘Additional services’. Special notes – such as regarding half-board – are also noted there. Should you have any queries or require further information, we are always happy to assist.
Can I cancel or rebook my trip? Please refer to our Terms and Conditions, points 14 and 15, for our cancellation policy and rebooking fees.
Can I take part on my own?
The cycling tour is also recommended for solo travellers.
Can I bring my dog on the cycle tour?
On many of our cycle tours, it is generally possible to bring a dog. Please specify your dog’s breed and size when booking, as this must be requested and confirmed in advance. Any additional costs depend on the hotel in question and must be paid on site.
Can I book for my own group?
Of course, we accept group bookings and offer special discounts for groups. You can find more information here.
Do I need travel insurance?
We recommend travel insurance to protect against high costs that may arise due to illness, accident or trip cancellation. Click here to visit our partner, Europäische Reiseversicherung.
How does payment work?
You can pay by bank transfer or credit card. When booking via our online booking form, payment via Apple Pay and Google Pay is also possible.
What payment deadlines apply to my booking?
The payment terms depend on the period between your booking and the start of your trip:
- Last-minute bookings (from 14 days before arrival):
The full travel price is due immediately upon receipt of the invoice. - Mid-term bookings (15 to 28 days before arrival):
Please transfer the full amount no later than 14 days before the start of your trip. - Long-term bookings (more than 29 days before arrival): A deposit of 10% of
the total price is due within 14 days of receiving the invoice. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days before arrival.
Can I also book my travel to and from the start of the tour
? You are responsible for organising your own travel to and from the start of your cycling tour. We’d be happy to help with recommendations – just get in touch!
Our tip: use public transport where possible. This way, you’ll not only travel in comfort but also in an environmentally friendly way.
How do I redeem a discount code?
If you have a discount code, please enter it directly when booking:
- For online bookings: Enter the code in the ‘Promo code’ field in the 4th booking step, ‘Price’.
- When booking by email: Simply include your discount code in your message.
When and how will I receive my travel documents?
We will email you your travel documents approximately three weeks before your arrival. Printed travel documents (if included in the package) will be left for you at the hotel where you arrive.
How does my cycling tour work? You organise
your own journey to the starting point of your tour. For most tour packages, the first night is spent at the arrival destination (see the tour itinerary in the offer). The first cycling stage begins the following day; luggage is handed in at reception in the morning and delivered to your next hotel by 5 pm at the latest.
Can I travel by public transport? You
can find detailed information on travelling by public transport directly in the offer, under the ‘Travel Information’ tab.
Where can I park my car during the trip? You’ll
find all the details on parking options directly in the travel offer under “All trip details”
When and where do I need to hand in my luggage? Please
bring your suitcases to reception by 9 am. They will be delivered to your next hotel by 5 pm at the latest. Please ensure you attach the luggage tags from your travel documents to your suitcases.
What happens if I break down en route?
We offer a service hotline seven days a week. You will find the telephone number in your travel documents.
What should I do in the event of an accident or illness during the trip?
- Provide immediate assistance; in the event of serious injuries or accidents, dial the emergency number. You will find the emergency numbers for your host country in your travel documents.
- If you are unable to continue your trip, please contact us immediately to discuss the next steps.
Is there an emergency contact? We are available seven
days a week on the service helpline number. You will find the telephone number in your travel documents.
How quickly will I receive updates (e.g. weather, route changes)?
- We recommend that you check the weather forecast for the following day the day before and plan your cycling route accordingly. In the event of extreme weather conditions, we will contact you directly.
- Minor route changes may occur from time to time due to local road closures. These will be signposted on site. Should there be major or long-term route changes or closures, we will contact you in good time and find a suitable solution.
How detailed are the maps or navigation instructions?
- We provide GPX data for your cycling trip. You can upload this to any app (e.g. Komoot) or save it to your GPS device.
- The printed maps are very comprehensive and vary depending on the destination. They include a detailed written description of the cycle route as well as a map showing the route.
- For marked tours, you can also choose not to use the printed travel documents. In return, we will offer a discount on the tour price or donate the amount on your behalf to the organisation World Bicycle Relief.
Is there an app or GPS support? For selected destinations
, there is an app or web application for smartphones. You can find this information in the relevant offer under “Included services”. GPS or GPX data is available for every tour and will be sent to you on request.
How difficult are the tours? Each
tour description includes a difficulty rating – from 1 to 5 cyclists on the scale.

Are there tours for beginners or families? Most cycling
holidays start on the Danube Cycle Path, Lake Constance Cycle Path or similar cycle routes, which are well-maintained and almost entirely flat. These tours are particularly suitable for families. You can find special family tours here.
How many kilometres does a daily stage cover?
The daily mileage depends on your tour and the difficulty level. Daily stages vary from 20 to a maximum of 100 km. You can find the exact details for your tour in the introductory text of the travel offer and under “All details about the trip” – “Itinerary”.
Are the cycling tours suitable for children?
You can find cycling tours that are suitable for children here. Every child is different and has their own needs. Children who enjoy cycling and do so often can easily cover several kilometres at a time. However, if your child rarely cycles, make sure the daily distance is short and plan in a rest day or two along the way.
How do you support environmentally friendly travel?
