Itinerary
  • Day 1 - Individual arrival in Constance

Your cycling tour begins in Constance, the lively council city on Lake Constance. Historic buildings, the medieval old town and the proximity to the neighbouring Swiss town of Kreuzlingen characterise the special flair of this place. This is where the Rhine leaves Lake Constance – the starting point for your varied tour through the Swiss lake district.
Example of hotel: Hotel Kreuzlingen am Hafen in Constance
  • Day 2 - From Constance to Schaffhausen, approx. 50 km

On the first day of your cycling tour, you will follow the Lake Constance Cycle Route along the Untersee through idyllic Swiss fishing villages. In Stein am Rhein, you will be impressed by colourful fresco houses from the Middle Ages. Continue on the Rhine Cycle Route to Schaffhausen with its striking Munot fortress above the old town.
Example of hotel: Park Villa in Schaffhausen
  • Day 3 - From Schaffhausen to Zurich, approx. 55 km + train ride or 70 km

One of the highlights of the day is the Rhine Falls near Neuhausen, Europe's largest waterfall, which you can experience up close. Afterwards, you cycle through the Glatt Valley towards Zurich. If you wish, you can shorten the route from Rümlang by taking the S-Bahn (not included). Zurich welcomes you with a successful blend of historic old town, lakeside promenades and modern city life.
Example of hotel: Sorell Hotel Rex in Zurich
  • Day 4 - From Zurich to Lachen, approx. 45 km

Along the so-called “Goldküste”, you cycle along the northern shore of Lake Zurich to Rapperswil with its imposing castle complex. Crossing the dam, you reach the southern side of the lake and continue on to Lachen, where the harbour atmosphere, Alpine views and swimming opportunities invite you to linger.
Example of hotel: Hotel Bären in Lachen
  • Day 5 - From Lachen to Vaduz, approx. 60 km + boat trip

Today, you will cycle along the Linth Canal to Weesen, from where you will cross the fjord-like Lake Walen by boat. Towering rock faces and crystal-clear water provide impressive moments of natural beauty. You will then follow the Alpine Rhine through a wide valley landscape to the Principality of Liechtenstein, where you will spend the night in Vaduz.
Example of hotel: Giessen Hotel und Coffeehouse in Vaduz
  • Day 6 - From Vaduz to St. Gallen, approx. 60 km + train ride

Passing castles and historic sites, you will reach Feldkirch with its mighty Schattenburg Castle. After crossing the Rhine again, the rack railway will take you to the hilly Appenzell region. You will cycle through gentle meadow landscapes to St. Gallen, known for its Baroque cathedral and famous abbey library.
Example of hotel: Militärkantine in St. Gallen
  • Day 7 - From St. Gallen to Constance, approx. 45 km

The route back to Lake Constance is mostly downhill. From Arbon, follow the lake shore through well-kept villages and orchards to Konstanz. Numerous bathing spots and cafés invite you to take enjoyable breaks along the way before ending your journey in a relaxed atmosphere in the old town.
Example of hotel: Hotel Kreuzlingen am Hafen in Constance
  • Day 8 - Individual departure or extra nights

After breakfast, your cycling tour along Lake Constance and the Swiss lakes of Lake Zurich and Lake Walen comes to an end. We would be happy to extend your stay at Lake Constance.
