Day 1 - Individual arrival in Passau
Your cycling tour along the Danube Cycle Path begins in the picturesque three-river city of Passau. After checking in at your hotel, you will receive your travel documents. If you have booked a rental bike, it will be ready for pickup at our bike repair shop. Use the day for a first stroll through the historic old town—a lovely start to your cycling holiday in Austria.

Right at the start of your cycling holiday, you'll experience the Danube in all its pristine beauty: mighty cliffs, rustic floodplain forests, and the famous monastery in Engelhartszell, famous for its herbal liqueurs. A special highlight of this stage is the impressive Schlögener Loop, a scenic gem along the Danube Cycle Path in Austria. You'll spend the night in charming Aschach an der Donau. Right at the start of your cycling holiday, you'll experience the Danube in all its pristine beauty: mighty cliffs, rustic floodplain forests, and the famous monastery in Engelhartszell, famous for its herbal liqueurs. Today's stage of your cycling tour takes you through the flat Eferding Basin to the cultural city of Linz – an exciting blend of industrial history and modern lifestyle. You'll continue cycling leisurely along the Danube to the historic town of Grein, known for its baroque flair and Austria's oldest theater.

This stage is considered the highlight of your trip. You pass through the legendary Strudengau and Nibelungengau regions and reach the gateway to the Wachau. On the last day of your cycling tour, you have the choice: an individual return journey, a return trip by bus or train to Passau (optional), or an extended stay in Vienna. Even without a bike, it's a worthwhile conclusion to your cycling tour along the Danube.

In Passau, the car can be parked in a parking garage for the duration of the cycle tour.
Locked and covered parking garage: € 13,-/day
Parking garage with E-connection: € 13,-/day plus € 32,- charging fee
Locked but outdoor on a parking ground: € 9,-/day

Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 28 days before arrival date
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before arrival date
50% of the tour price from 13th to 8th day before arrival date
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

Length: The Danube Cycle Path in Austria - starting in Passau and finishing in Vienna - is 326 kilometers long.
Route description: The Danube cycle path Passau - Vienna is very well developed. The Danube cycle path in Austria is asphalted practically everywhere. You cycle along roads with little traffic on your bike tours, usually even on both sides of the river.
Signposting: On your cycle tour in Austria, follow the special signposts. The cycle paths in Upper and Lower Austria are marked with green, rectangular signs. The Danube cycle path in Austria is marked as such by name in most cases. (R1 in Upper Austria). Regional cycle paths connect to it.
Sights along the Danube Cycle Path Passau - Vienna
Passau: The city of three rivers welcomes you warmly on your cycle tour in Austria. This is where the Ilz and Inn flow into the Danube, causing it to swell into a mighty river.
