In the early days, the only purpose for these buildings was the supervision of the navigation and the management of the surrounding farms. Day 1 - Individual arrival in Passau
You start your cycle holiday along the Danube with a stroll through Passau, the bishop's town with its picturesque old town, the cathedral and the Veste Oberhaus. The first overnight stay of your cycle tour from Passau to Vienna is in the Hotel Residenz. A hotel built into the walls of a 400-year old former shop and situated in the historical old town along the Danube cycle path. Check-in and you receive your travel documents. Handover of your rented bike takes place in our bike centre, individual test journey to your hotel with your hired bike. With the Danube boat, you reach Kasten, from where you cycle leisurely through the romantic Upper Danube Valley via the Monastery Engelszell and the Schlögener Schlinge to Aschach. You stay overnight at Hotel Faustschlössl overlooking the river. The castle was originally established more than 500 years ago, on behest of the emperor. Past the lakes of Feldkirchen you cycle along Danube's north side to Linz, the European City of Culture 2009. Today you stay overnight in the top-modern hotel on the cathedral square of the magnificent Marien Cathedral. Beautiful surrounding with fruitful meadows with apple and pear trees lining the cycle path from Linz to the region Strudengau. The Danube made a narrow riverbed by granite rock on its way through the Strudengau. You cycle towards the lovely Wachau Valley. The magnificent Abbey of Melk also called the gate of the Wachau Valley welcomes you sitting high enthroned over the Danube. Your home for tonight is the beautiful Castle Dürnstein a nearly 400-year old building located in the middle of the picturesque Dürnstein overlooking majestically the river. The second-last day of your cycle tour along the Danube cycle path leads you to Tulln. For the interested ones in art we warmly recommend the Egon-Schiele Museum, dedicated to the great son of the town. By train, you arrive in Vienna, the final destination of your Austrian cycle holiday. The city unfolds her imperial charm during a journey along the Ringstrasse, a visit of Castle Schönbrunn and its park or in the numerous museum. Only a few hundred meters from the Hofburg Palace, admits the first district the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof enchants its guests during their cycling holiday in Austria. Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 28 days before arrival date
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before arrival date
50% of the tour price from 13th to 8th day before arrival date
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

Cycle Path - Austrian Danube
Length: The Danube Cycle Path in Austria - starting in Passau and finishing in Vienna - is 326 kilometers long.
Route description: The Danube cycle path Passau - Vienna is very well developed. The Danube cycle path in Austria is asphalted practically everywhere. You cycle along roads with little traffic on your bike tours, usually even on both sides of the river.
Signposting: On your cycle tour in Austria, follow the special signposts. The cycle paths in Upper and Lower Austria are marked with green, rectangular signs. The Danube cycle path in Austria is marked as such by name in most cases. (R1 in Upper Austria). Regional cycle paths connect to it.
Sights along the Danube Cycle Path Passau - Vienna
Passau: The city of three rivers welcomes you warmly on your cycle tour in Austria. This is where the Ilz and Inn flow into the Danube, causing it to swell into a mighty river. In Passau, the picturesque old town invites you to take a tour before the start of your cycle tour in Austria, which will certainly take you to Passau Cathedral with the largest church organ in the world. The Veste Oberhaus towers high above Passau.
Engelszell Abbey: Austria's only Trappist monastery is located almost directly on the Danube Cycle Path. In addition to the beautiful collegiate church, you should also visit the store on your cycling vacation in Austria, which sells excellent liqueurs from the monastery's own production.
Schlögener Schlinge: A mighty natural spectacle can be seen directly on the Danube cycle path during your cycle tour from Passau to Vienna. Wachau: The UNESCO World Heritage region of Wachau stretches between Melk and Krems in Lower Austria. The Danube Cycle Path leads directly through this famous Lower Austrian wine region. Even the Romans cultivated wine in terraces to the left and right of the Danube. Don't miss out on a visit to a wine tavern to sample the tangy Grüner Veltliner. Melk Benedictine Abbey can be seen from afar from the Danube Cycle Path. It impresses with its magnificent rooms and a well-known abbey library.
Vienna: Austria's capital is the destination of your cycle tour along the Danube Cycle Path. Numerous sights invite you to visit: Schönbrunn Park and Palace, the Prater, the Ringstrasse with its numerous magnificent buildings, the Hofburg and much more. Not forgetting the countless theaters, above all the Burgtheater, the Vienna State Opera and smaller variety theaters offer entertaining hours in the evening.
