Welcome to the Eichstätt centre cycle tour. Like a treasure chest, the picturesque town spreads out along the winding Altmühl River, inviting you to explore it for the first time.
Example of hotels: Hotel Altmühltal**** in EichstättDay 2 - 3-Valley cycle tour, approx. 65 km
Your first bike tour takes you along idyllic paths through the Altmühl Valley, the Urdonau Valley, and the Schutter Valley, three valleys whose rolling hills, juniper heaths, and river meadows make every cycling vacation in the Altmühl Valley a nature experience. Via Nassenfels, the route continues to Wolkertshofen, where you can stop for a leisurely break. In Pfünz, the reconstructed Roman fort Vetoniana offers an exciting glimpse into history. In the evening, you will return to Eichstätt at a leisurely pace.Day 3 - From Eichstätt to Ingolstadt, approx. 60 km
After a good breakfast, you will start your bike tour along the gently flowing Altmühl River via Pfünz and Gaimersheim to Ingolstadt. The route combines the enjoyment of nature with cultural riches. Ingolstadt, once the residence of Bavarian dukes and a fortified town on the Danube, is one of the most beautiful cities in Bavaria. Historic alleys, magnificent buildings, and cozy cafés invite you to take a pleasant break.Day 4 - Rest day or Roman tour, approx. 40 km
Plan your day however you like – that's one of the real advantages of this centre cycle tour in the Altmühl Valley. How about a visit to the imposing Willibaldsburg Castle, Eichstätt's landmark, or a trip to the fossil quarry on the Blumenberg? There you can experience the geological history of the region up close (approx. 32 km). Alternatively, the Roman tour (approx. 40 km) beckons with exciting traces of antiquity. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can enjoy the baroque old town and the green surroundings of Eichstätt.Day 5 - To the Anlautertal and Altmühltal valleys, approx. 65 km
Today, your cycling holiday takes you through two of the most charming valleys in the Altmühltal Nature Park. After a short climb up to the Jura plateau, you can enjoy the magnificent view before rolling down into the idyllic Anlautertal valley. Fragrant juniper slopes and flowering dry grasslands accompany you along the Altmühltal Cycle Route. This stage shows why a cycling holiday in the Altmühltal is so popular: gentle exercise, magnificent views, and genuine relaxation.Day 6 - Twelve Apostles, approx. 45 km (bike + train)
You start the last day of your star bike tour in the Altmühl Valley with a short train ride to Treuchtlingen, the gateway to the southern Altmühl Valley. From here, you follow the Altmühl Valley Cycle Route, which takes you through one of Bavaria's most impressive landscapes. Bizarre rock formations line the river and make this stage of your cycling holiday a special experience for leisure cyclists. After a stop in Solnhofen, known for its fossil finds, you will reach the famous Twelve Apostles, probably the best-known rock formation in the Altmühltal.Day 7 - Individual departure or extra nights
