Day 1 - Individual arrival in Gunzenhausen
Welcome to the Gunzenhausen star bike tour – your cycling vacation in the Altmühltal valley begins here. It's worth arriving early for your cycling vacation, as this charming town on the Altmühltal Cycle Route welcomes you with Franconian hospitality and a touch of the Middle ages.

Today marks the start of the first stage of your bike tour in the Altmühl Valley. From Gunzenhausen, follow the leisurely bike path to nearby Altmühlsee, which lies like a sparkling emerald amid rolling meadows. Continue along the idyllic Seenland Cycle Route to the impressive Lake Brombach, the largest lake in the Franconian Lake District. Thanks to your center cycle tour, you don't have to worry about your luggage – your hotel awaits you with familiar warmth.Day 3 - Trip to the national park Altmühl, approx. 40 km + train ride
After a leisurely breakfast, you will board the train and travel to Solnhofen. On the Altmühltal Cycle Route, you will cycle through the Altmühltal Nature Park, past bizarre rock formations and fragrant juniper heaths. Via idyllic Pappenheim, where the proud castle towers high above the Altmühl, your cycling tour continues through charming villages and gentle river meadows to Wettelsheim. In the late afternoon, you cycle back to Gunzenhausen at a leisurely pace.Day 4 - Trip to Ansbach, approx. 40 km + train ride
Today, you will experience the cultural side of your cycling holiday in the Altmühltal valley. After a short train ride, you will reach Ansbach, the former residence of the Hohenzollern dynasty. Here, everything exudes history, elegance, and Franconian charm. On a guided tour of the magnificent Hohenzollern residence, you will immerse yourself in the glamorous Rococo era. Then hop back on your bike and follow the Altmühltal Cycle Route back to Gunzenhausen.Day 5 - Trip to the thermal bath Altmühl and Karlsgraben, approx. 30 km + train ride
The next stage of your center cycle tour in the Altmühl Valley takes you back to the fascinating landscape of the Franconian Lake District. Along the peaceful Altmühl Cycle Route, you cycle through the small village of Aha towards Karlsgraben. It was here that Emperor Charlemagne once launched his ambitious attempt to connect the Rhine and Danube via a waterway – a visionary construction project that is still considered a technical marvel of its time and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route continues to Treuchtlingen, where a visit to the museum is well worth your time. Afterwards, the Altmühltherme spa beckons with soothing relaxation – perfect for unwinding. In the afternoon, you will travel back to Gunzenhausen by train, where you can spend the evening as you please.Day 6 - Round trip Stork cycle path, approx. 35 km
Today, a round trip on the idyllic Stork Cycle Route around Gunzenhausen awaits you. Over approximately 35 kilometers, you will discover the tranquil beauty of the Franconian Lake District. Your bike tour in Bavaria first takes you to the Gunzenhausen stork's nest, a well-known vantage point from which you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Altmühl Valley. The tour continues to Gundelsheim, where the charming Art Nouveau church is a real insider tip for art and architecture lovers. Via Alesheim, you cycle leisurely back towards Gunzenhausen.Day 7 - Round trip to Weißenburg, approx. 50 km
The last day of your star bike tour in the Altmühl Valley takes you on a particularly charming route full of history, nature, and culture. From Gunzenhausen, you cycle leisurely via Trommetsheim to the medieval Roman town of Weißenburg. There, it is worth taking a stroll through the historic old town with its half-timbered houses, towers, and walls, which tell of a long history. A visit to the Roman thermal baths (admission not included) is particularly recommended.Day 8 - Individual departure or extra nights

The family-run Parkhotel Altmühltal in Gunzenhausen is located in the center of the Franconian Lake District and at the gateway to the Altmühltal Nature Park. It is quiet and right on the bike path.

67 rooms, restaurant, sun terrace, hotel bar, fireplace room, wellness area with indoor adventure pool, steam bath and sauna.
Rooms:
Comfortable rooms furnished in a modern country house style (Altmühlsee category), with shower / toilet, minibar, TV, phone, internet access via WLAN, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, seating and desk.
Culinary:
The kitchen of the house offers a rich breakfast buffet and in the evening a 3-course menu with a choice of the main course (4 courses to choose from) or a buffet dinner. Franconian specialties are on the menu as well as international dishes
Parking possibilities:
You can leave your car at the Parkhotel Altmühltal or in a garage for approx. € 15,00 per day.
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 28 days before arrival date
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before arrival date
50% of the tour price from 13th to 8th day before arrival date
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.
