Gunzenhausen is located in the Franconian Lake District directly on the Altmühl Cycle Path, the 1st long-distance cycle path in Germany, a vacation resort with a historic town center (town fortifications from the Middle Ages, historic town center).
The Altmühlsee is only about 2 km away, thus a beautiful starting point for "bike and bath".

Day 1 - Individual arrival in Gunzenhausen
An early arrival for your cycling holiday in the Altmühltal is recommended. Stroll through the historic town center and admire the city fortifications from the middle ages. You cycle on the Altmühl cycle path to the nearby Lake Altmühl. Around this beautiful bathing lake and on the Seenland-cycle path to the nearby Lake Brombach. You cycle around the lake and back to the hotel.Day 3 - Trip to the national park Altmühl, approx. 40 km + train ride
By train to Solnhofen (runs every hour); you cycle through the Altmühl Nature Park past interesting rock formations (Solnhofer granite with petrified snails, etc.) to Pappenheim (castle), Wettelsheim and back.Day 4 - Trip to Ansbach, approx. 40 km + train ride
The third bike tour on your cycling holiday in Germany starts with a train ride to Ansbach. A guided tour of the Hohenzollern Residence, a magnificent rococo palace, awaits you here. The impressive orangery in the castle gardens invites you to visit. You cycle comfortably back to Gunzenhausen on the Altmühltal cycle path.Day 5 - Trip to the thermal bath Altmühl and Karlsgraben, approx. 30 km + train ride
The cycle path on the Altmühl takes via Aha to Karlsgraben. The first attempt to connect the Rhine and the Danube by waterway was started over 1200 years ago (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The bike tour in Franconia leads to the museum in Treuchtlingen and then to the Altmühltherme. You return to the hotel by train.Day 6 - Round trip Stork cycle path, approx. 35 km
The bike tour in Bavaria to Gunzenhausen Stork's Nest is slightly hilly. A fantastic panoramic view awaits you. Then you cycle to Gundelsheim with its art nouveau church and on to Alesheim, where you can admire some stork nests. Via the village of Aha you will return to Gunzenhausen.Day 7 - Round trip to Weißenburg, approx. 45 km
The last day of the centre cycling tour in the Altmühltal begins with a tour via Trommetsheim to the medieval Roman town of Weißenburg. Highly recommended is the visit of the Roman thermal baths (not included).Day 8 - Individual departure or extra nights

Location: The family-run Parkhotel Altmühltal in Gunzenhausen is located in the center of the Franconian Lake District and at the gateway to the Altmühltal Nature Park. It is quiet and right on the bike path.
Facilities: 67 rooms, restaurant, sun terrace, hotel bar, fireplace room, wellness area with indoor adventure pool, steam bath and sauna.
Rooms: Comfortable rooms furnished in a modern country house style (Altmühlsee category), with shower / toilet, minibar, TV, phone, internet access via WLAN, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, seating and desk.
Culinary: The kitchen of the house offers a rich breakfast buffet and in the evening a 3-course menu with a choice of the main course (2 courses to choose from) or a buffet dinner. Franconian specialties are on the menu as well as international dishes
Parking possibilities:
You can leave your car at the Parkhotel Altmühltal or in a garage for approx. € 15,00 per day.
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 28 days before arrival date
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before arrival date
50% of the tour price from 13th to 8th day before arrival date
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.
