Day 1 - Individual arrival in Bamberg
Upon arrival at the Main Cycle Route, Bamberg's old town, a true UNESCO gem, invites you to marvel at its beauty. A cycling holiday begins here with half-timbered houses, the cathedral and a fresh Rauchbier beer by the river. Your cycling holiday will be an enjoyable introduction to the Franconian zest for life.

On the Main Cycle Route, you cycle from the Regnitz to the Main and the Maria Limbach pilgrimage church. A cycling holiday through beer and wine country in Franconia – where the first vines greet you and the Main glistens. In Haßfurt and Theres, your holiday becomes a moment of pleasure with history and Franconian warmth.
Example of hotel: Hotel Ross in SchweinfurtDay 3 - From Schweinfurt to Volkach/Schwarzach, approx. 30–45 km
Today, you will follow the Main Cycle Route via Fahr, the town of the Bocksbeutel wine bottle, to Volkach and Schwarzach. You will cycle through vineyards, historic alleyways and picturesque riverbank views. In Volkach, your cycling tour will be rounded off in the evening with Franconian wines and culinary delights.

After Volkach, you can enjoy a leisurely cycle ride along the Main Canal before rejoining the Main at Schwarzach. The Main Cycle Route is pleasantly flat here and runs along well-surfaced paths. This means you will reach Würzburg in the early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore the picturesque old town, the Residenz palace or one of the cosy wine cafés.

On the fifth day of your cycling tour, you will cycle via Veitshöchheim, famous for its prince-bishop's summer residence and magnificent Rococo garden, to Karlstadt with its charming old town. After that, the landscape reveals its diverse side: vineyards give way to shady forests that run directly alongside the river. On pleasantly flat paths, you will enjoy cycling along the Main River and finally reach Lohr am Main via the three-river town of Gemünden.

Today, the wooded hills grow ever closer together as the Main winds its way picturesquely through the narrow valley. You cycle past Rothenfels, whose imposing castle towers majestically above the river, to Marktheidenfeld and Wertheim. Here, an enchanting old town awaits you with lovingly restored half-timbered houses and romantic alleyways.

Between the wooded heights of Spessart and Odenwald, you can enjoy a particularly relaxing section of your cycling tour. On flat, well-paved paths, you can cycle leisurely to pretty Miltenberg (approx. 36 km). If you prefer, you can shorten the route to Aschaffenburg by train (approx. 45 minutes, direct connection). Your cycle tour continues to the wine village of Klingenberg (approx. 51 km) – perfect for a break with a glass of Franconian wine. The Main Cycle Route remains pleasantly flat, while you glide almost effortlessly along the last few kilometres to Aschaffenburg (approx. 77 km). Here, the magnificent sandstone Johannisburg Castle awaits you.

Return transfer from your cycling holiday in Germany to Bamberg is every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 9 am (duration approx. 3 hours). Please see rates for more details.

Parking facilities
You are welcome to park your car in a public underground car park during your cycle tour along the Main Cycle Path for around € 18.00 per day.
You will receive detailed information on parking facilities with the detailed travel documents.
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to the 28th day before departure
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before departure
50% of the tour price from the 13th to the 8th day before departure
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before departure
90% of the tour price from the 3rd day before departure until the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes to the booking (date of travel, tour, duration, transfer of the booking to another person etc.) up to 28 days before departure, for reasons which are outside our control, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,- per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

In case of a booking your announced data will be only used from OÖ Touristik GmbH for the process of bookings and related transactions and will be passed on only in the context of the contractual relationship to third parties.
