from/to Nunspeet Holland 2026 – Ijsselmeer Nostalgie

8 days/7 nights, 35-65 km daily, mostly flat, 4- and 3-star-category

Cycling along the Ijsselmeer is an unforgettable experience on your cycling holiday in Holland. The lake was created in 1932 by damming the Zuiderzee and continues to shape the region to this day. In the past, entire villages lived from fishing here, but today the Ijsselmeer is particularly popular for its tranquillity and wide-open landscape. On your leisurely cycling holiday, you will discover the most beautiful towns and villages around the lake and enjoy fantastic views over the water, green forests and wide polder landscapes.

The idyllic village of Nunspeet is the perfect starting point for your cycling tour around the Ijsselmeer. Surrounded by old farms and green meadows, the varied landscape offers ideal conditions for cycling. On well-developed cycle paths, you will discover the most beautiful sides of nature on this cycling tour in Holland and experience culture and relaxation on two wheels.
Example of hotel: Hotel de Hoeve van Nunspeet in Nunspeet or Veluwe Hotel Stakenberg in Elspeet
  • Day 2 - From Nunspeet to Amersfoort, approx. 60 km

Your first cycling stage takes you from Nunspeet through the varied Veluwe region to Harderwijk, a romantic town with historic buildings, and on to Amersfoort. On well-maintained cycle paths, you can enjoy the idyllic landscape and stroll through narrow streets in charming old towns behind city walls, experience history and enjoy the atmosphere of your cycling holiday in Holland to the fullest.
Example of hotel: NH Amersfoort or Berghotel Amersfoort
  • Day 3 - From Amersfoort to Amsterdam, approx. 65 km

Today, your cycling stage takes you through idyllic Dutch towns such as Baarn and Muiderberg. A particular highlight is the Eemland moorland area, which delights visitors with its unspoilt nature. You then cycle on to the impressive Muiderslot, a medieval castle, before ending the day relaxing in the picturesque streets of Amsterdam.
Example of hotel: Hotel Inn Express Amsterdam - North Riverside
  • Day 4 - From Amsterdam to Enkhuizen, approx. 65 km

On the way to Enkhuizen, we recommend stopping off in Edam before cycling on to Hoorn, the so-called “crown jewel” of the Ijsselmeer. Along well-maintained cycle paths, you can enjoy the beautiful Dutch countryside before finally reaching Enkhuizen, a historic port town that was of great importance during the “Golden Age”.

  • Day 5 - From Enkhuizen to Southern Friesland, approx. 35-40 km

Early in the morning, you will take the ferry to Stavoren. Please take your luggage and bicycle on board yourself. From Stavoren, you will cycle through idyllic Frisian villages along the famous Eleven Cities Route and enjoy the unique landscape of Friesland on your cycling holiday on the Ijsselmeer.
Example of hotel: Sporthotel Iselmar or Herberg Boswijck
  • Day 6 - From Southern Friesland to Zwartsluis, approx. 50-60 km

Before leaving Lemmer, it is worth visiting the historic steam pumping station. Then cycle through the De Weerribben nature reserve, an unspoilt peat bog area, and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. On the way to Zwartsluis, you can stop off at Blokzijl or Vollenhove. In Zwartsluis, you can visit the former Swartsluys Castle and immerse yourself in the history of the region.
    Example of hotel: Hotel Zwartewater
  • Day 7 - From Zwartsluis to Nunspeet, approx. 50 km

On the last day of your cycling holiday in Holland, you will cycle back to Nunspeet. On the way, you will pass the historic Hanseatic town of Kampen and the idyllic village of Noordeinde, which is known for its traditional thatched roofs. Enjoy the varied landscape and relax as you end the day in Nunspeet.
Example of hotel: Hotel de Hoeve van Nunspeet in Nunspeet or Veluwe Hotel Stakenberg in Elspeet
