Example of hotel: Arcotel Kaiserwasser in ViennaDay 2 - From Vienna to Bad Deutsch Altenburg, approx. 40 km
After receiving your rental bikes and tour information, your bike tour along the Danube Cycle Path begins. Just outside Vienna, the Donau-Auen National Park welcomes you with wetlands, meadows, and rare bird species. Passing Orth Castle and Eckartsau Castle, you cycle to the spa town of Bad Deutsch Altenburg, where even the Romans once left their mark.
Example of hotel: Hotel Altes Kloster in AltenburgDay 3 - From Bad Deutsch Altenburg to Bratislava, approx. 25 km
Nestled between the Little Carpathians and the Hainburg Hills, the Danube leads you directly into the Slovakian capital. Bratislava enchants with its lively old town, baroque palaces, and cozy cafés, a highlight of any cycling trip in Slovakia.
Example of hotel: Austria Trend Hotel Bratislava in BratislavaDay 4 - From Bratislava over Schütt Island to Györ, approx. 80 km/ 50 km + train ride Mosonmagyaróvár – Györ
Today you explore the Danube Island Schüttinsel, a paradise of side arms, birdlife, and traditional farming villages. Later, continue by bike and short train ride to Györ. Situated at the confluence of three rivers, Györ delights with a beautifully restored baroque old town. Tip: We encourage you to take the train for the length between Mosonmayarovar und Györ. The train tickets can be bought from the Tickets automat. The cycling tour would be shortened by 40 km.
Example of hotel: Hotel Famulus in GyörDay 5 - From Györ to Komárno, approx. 55 km
Your cycling holiday in Hungary continues through rolling farmland. A detour to the world-famous Bábolna Stud Farm, renowned for Arabian horses, is well worth it. You finish the day in the border town of Komarno/Komarom with its historic fortress.
Example of hotel: Hotel Peklo in Komarno/surroundingsDay 6 - From Komárno to Donauknie (Danube bend) approx. 50 km
Cycle along the Slovakian Danube bank on quiet dam paths and country roads, passing small villages and the Roman fort Kelemantia. Today's destination is Esztergom, once a royal city. Its mighty basilica, the largest church in Hungary is a true highlight of your bike tour along the Danube Cycle Path.
Example of hotel: Portobello Wellness & Yacht Hotel in EsztergomDay 7 - From Donauknie (Danube bend) to Budapest, approx. 70 km + boat/train trip
The Danube splits into picturesque branches, creating the romantic Danube Bend.
