Day 1 - Individual arrival in Villach
Individual arrival for your cycle holiday in Carinthia. Check-in, in your hotel and handover of your rented bike for your Carinthian Lakes bike tour. Enjoy the southern flair of Villach, where we recommend a stroll through the medieval town centre. In the morning you take the train to Lendorf near Spittal a. d. Drau. From there you cycle on secondary roads to Lake Millstatt, which is completely surrounded by a cycle path. You will discover the untouched south shore without any roads where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake in many places. Along the northern shore you cycle, partly directly along the lake, to the capital of the region, Millstatt am See. Today a shuttle bus takes you up to the lake Weißensee. From there, a boat will take you to the starting point of the bike tour (ticket not included). The trip starts with a short slope before turning downhill again along the dreamy Gitschtal valley, to the small town of Hermagor and then to Lake Pressegger See. The tour starts at the Gailtal cycle path, one of Carinthia´s most natural cycling routes. It leads through the Schütt nature reserve, formed by a landslide of the imposing Dobratsch mountain, and where the Gail River flows through wide gravel banks. From the Gailtal cycle path, turn off at Müllnern in the direction of lake Faaker See and continue along the southern shore of the lake. Then the path leads through small, dreamy places to today´s final destination. Today you cycle along the Drauradweg in direction of the Lake Wörthersee. Before you arrive Velden am Wörthersee you turn into the idyllic Keutschacher Seental, which is located parallel to the Lake Wörthersee. Today's destination is Klagenfurt. The capital of Carinthia is well known for the renaissance buildings in the old town as well as its southern flair. Today you start your cycling tour with a short trip to Lake Klopeiner See. The path takes you past the imposing Maria Rain pilgrimage church via the Kraftwerk Ferlach to the Drauradweg. Following this you will reach Tainach and Stein am Jauntal. Passing the Völkermarkter Stausee, the cycling route takes you back to Klagenfurt. Parking possibilities:
You can park depending on the hotel you arrive at, in a free, unguarded parking lot directly at the hotel or near the hotel (reservation not possible, payable on site).
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 28 days before arrival date
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before arrival date
50% of the tour price from 13th to 8th day before arrival date
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before arrival date
95% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.
