The Vennbahn Cycle Route, at around 125 kilometres, is one of the longest and most beautiful railway cycle paths in Europe. Today, you can cycle comfortably and almost entirely on flat terrain (max. 2%) along the former railway line through the impressive natural landscape of the Eifel and Ardennes. Gentle hills, wide meadows, quiet forests and idyllic villages characterise the landscape along the route, which was named ‘Cycle Route of the Year’ in 2014.

Day 1 - Individual arrival in Maastricht or ´s Gravenvoeren
Individual arrival in Maastricht or 's-Gravenvoeren. Take the opportunity to explore Maastricht, the oldest city in the Netherlands, with its historic squares, charming alleys and cosy cafés. If Maastricht is fully booked, you can alternatively start your cycling tour in idyllic Gravenvoeren, Belgium, surrounded by rolling hills and charming countryside.

Your cycle tour starts in Maastricht and takes you across the border to Belgium. Passing 's-Gravenvoeren, Hombourg and the former microstate of Moresnet, you cycle through gently rolling countryside to Raeren, where it is worth visiting the pottery museum in the historic moated castle. Then it's a leisurely ride to Eupen, the charming capital of the Belgian East Cantons, surrounded by wooded countryside.

Today, you will cycle almost the entire route through unspoilt nature in the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park. A gentle climb will take you to the highest point of your journey before you reach Sankt Vith via Sourbrodt and the Montenauer ham smokehouse on the Vennbahn cycle path – a charming village nestled among the rolling hills of the Eifel. Further south, follow the Vennbahn cycle path to Burg-Reuland, one of Belgium's most impressive castle ruins, which is well worth a visit. You will then reach the Luxembourg border and cycle a short distance to Troisvierges. Here you have a choice: either take the train through the valley to Clervaux, your destination for the day, or enjoy a bike ride through the idyllic Luxembourg countryside to today's destination.

Today, you will cycle along a challenging route through the picturesque Our Valley at the border triangle of Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. After a few longer climbs, you will enjoy a scenic ride through idyllic landscapes before reaching today's destination along romantic paths.

Today, you will cycle leisurely along the Vennbahn towards Aachen. On the way, it is worth stopping in the charming Eifel towns of Monschau and Kornelimünster, ideal for a break on a cosy terrace. The last 30 km of your cycling holiday lead downhill to Aachen, so you will still have enough energy to explore the historic old town of Charlemagne.

From Aachen, you cycle back to the Netherlands on your cycling tour. From Lemiers, you follow the LF 13 long-distance cycle route and enjoy the rolling hills and idyllic landscapes of Limburg until you finally reach Maastricht again.

Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
25 % of the tour price up to the 21th day before departure
50% of the tour price from 20th to the 8th day before departure
75% of the tour price from the 7th to the 2nd day before departure
100% of the tour price from the 1st day before departure until the day of arrival
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we will charge a processing fee of € 50,00 per booking. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

In case of a booking your announced data will be only used from OÖ Touristik GmbH for the process of bookings and related transactions and will be passed on only in the context of the contractual relationship to third parties. The combination of travel services offered to you is a package within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302.
This ensures that you will benefit from all EU rights applicable to packages. Company OÖ Touristik GmbH will be fully responsible for the proper performance of the package as a whole.
Additionally, as required by law, the company OÖ Touristik GmbH has protection in place to refund your payments and, where transport is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in the event that it becomes insolvent.

The liquidator is the Europäische Reiseversicherung AG, Kratochwjlestraße 4, 1220 Wien, Email: info@europaeische.at, 24-hour emergency number: +43 1 3172500.
Travelers have to contact the liquidator within 8 weeks if they are denied claims due to the insolvency of OÖ Touristik GmbH. Details on the business license of OÖ Touristik GmbH can be found on the website https://www.gisa.gv.at/abfrage under the GISA number 14930096.
Parking possibilities
In Maastricht and in ‘s Gravenvoeren you can park in the hotel car park for a fee of approx. 20 euros per day or in the surrounding unguarded car parks approx. 300 metres from the hotel.
