The Alpe-Adria Cycle Route links Austria’s alpine landscapes with Italy’s Mediterranean charm. From Salzburg to the Adriatic, the route offers stunning mountains, scenic valleys, historic towns, and local cuisine. Following an old cultural trail with a new twist, it leads to Grado, where the sparkling sea and fresh sea air reward cyclists for their unforgettable journey across the Alps.

Day 1 - Individual arrival in Salzburg
Arrival for your cycling vacation. Check into your hotel in Salzburg and receive your travel documents for your cycle tour. Explore the city of Salzburg on your own before starting your bike tour the next day. Tip: Enjoy an evening fortress concert at Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Example of hotel: Hotel Harry's Home in SalzburgDay 2 - From Salzburg to Bischofshofen/St. Johann, approx. 55–65 km
On your first day's stage, you leave Salzburg on the cycle path along the Salzach. You cycle leisurely to Hallein and Kuchl. Hallein is famous for its salt deposits and the crooked town houses. The cycle path continues towards St. Johann im Pongau, your destination for today.
Example of hotel: Hotel Hubertus in St. JohannDay 3 - From Bischofshofen/St. Johann to Spittal/Seeboden am Millstättersee, approx. 60 km + train ride
Today you cycle along the flat cycle path to Schwarzach. Take the train up to Mallnitz (ticket for persons incl.; ticket for the bikes payable on the spot approx. euros 3,-). At the bottom of the Mallnitz valley you continue into the Drau valley until you reach your hotel.
Example of hotel: Hotel Klein in SeebodenDay 4 - From Spittal/Seeboden am Millstättersee to Tarvis, approx. 70 km
Today you cycle along the Drau on a flat, car-free route until you reach the town of Villach with its picturesque old town. You then cycle slightly uphill along the Gail via Arnoldstein to Tarvisio, where you will spend the night.

On the fifth day of your cycle tour, the heart of the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path awaits you. You cycle through the narrow valley of the Fella River on the former railroad line to Pontebba. After a short section on the road, the route continues to your destination for the day.

Close to the Tagliamento River or on side roads, you will cycle past Osoppo and Buia. The Alpe-Adria cycle tour takes you through the fertile landscape of Friuli to Udine. This elegant trading town captivates visitors with its Venetian flair, magnificent buildings and cultural highlights.

On the last day of your Alpe-Adria cycle tour, you cycle from the city center to the enchanting countryside and through romantic villages such as Pavia. After a short stop, you cycle to Palmanova, a Venetian fortress town with Piazza Grande, numerous Renaissance palaces and completely preserved town fortifications. Your last cycle stage takes you via Cervignano to Aquileia. You cycle through a picturesque lagoon to the old harbor town of Grado.

Return transfer from the cycling holiday on the Alpe Adria Cycle Route to Salzburg. Boarding at the central meeting point. Return transfer on Friday by bus. Return transfer on Saturday and Sunday: bus journey to Villach. Then train journey to Salzburg with reserved seats. Return transport of your own bikes: drop off on Friday or Saturday by 5 p.m. Delivery to the arrival hotel in Salzburg by 4 p.m. the following day.
Hotel note: We make every effort to book the hotels mentioned by name. However, if one is not available, we will switch to an equivalent company.
Parking facilities
A private parking space (fenced lot) in Salzburg is included in the tour price.
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to the 28th day before departure
30% of the tour price from 27th to 14th day before departure
50% of the tour price from the 13th to the 8th day before departure
70% of the tour price from 7th to 4th day before departure
90% of the tour price from the 3rd day until arrival day
If the customer makes changes of the date of travel up to 28 days before departure, we may charge a processing fee. After this date, the cancellation policy will apply. Such changes to a booking may only be made in individual cases and if possible; the customer has no right to any changes.

In case of a booking your announced data will be only used from OÖ Touristik GmbH for the process of bookings and related transactions and will be passed on only in the context of the contractual relationship to third parties. The combination of travel services offered to you is a package within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302.
This ensures that you will benefit from all EU rights applicable to packages. Company OÖ Touristik GmbH will be fully responsible for the proper performance of the package as a whole.
Additionally, as required by law, the company OÖ Touristik GmbH has protection in place to refund your payments and, where transport is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in the event that it becomes insolvent.

The liquidator is the Europäische Reiseversicherung AG, Kratochwjlestraße 4, 1220 Wien, Email: info@europaeische.at, 24-hour emergency number: +43 1 3172500.
Travelers have to contact the liquidator within 8 weeks if they are denied claims due to the insolvency of OÖ Touristik GmbH. Details on the business license of OÖ Touristik GmbH can be found on the website https://www.gisa.gv.at/abfrage under the GISA number 14930096.
