Day 1 - Individual journey to Mantua
The cabins are available from 5:00 pm for your bike and boat trip. The meeting with the tour guide and crew is scheduled for 06:30 pm before dinner.Day 2 - Round trip Mantua, cycle tour approx. 35 km
The first day of cycling is dedicated to discovering the city of Mantua and its three picturesque ‘lakes'. In the late afternoon, you will be accompanied through the city by a guide. From Piazza Sordello with its magnificent cathedral and Palazzo Ducale, you will cycle through the historic centre to Piazza delle Erbe. Admire the bell tower, Rotonda di S. Lorenzo and the Cathedral of St Andrew.Day 3 - From Mantua to Zelo, cycle tour approx. 50 km
The Ave Maria takes you to Governolo to the fortress of the river pirates of the Mincio. You start your cycle tour and cycle along the Po to the village of Istiglia and on to Bergantino. There you will visit the museum of the carousel and the folk theatre. Enjoy a tasting in a cheese dairy before you reach Zelo along the Canal Bianco. The ship will then dock overnight in this small, very beautiful village.Day 4 - From Zelo via Ferrara to Adria, cycle tour approx. 50 km
Today's cycling day takes you first to Ferrara. Explore the ‘city of cyclists' with its beautiful centre. A short bus transfer will then take you to Adria. The city with its old Greek harbour was once known for its trade in Baltic amber.Day 5 - From Adria via the Po Delta nature reserve to the island of Pellestrina, approx. 40 km
After a boat trip to Porto Viro, it's back on the bike again. You follow the course of the Po-Brondolo through the labyrinth of the Po Delta. You then get back on board in Chioggia. The Ave Maria takes you to the island of Pellestrina.Day 6 - From the island of Pellestrina to Venice, approx. 25 km
Immediately after breakfast, a cycle tour along the small island of Pellestrina with its picturesque fishermen's cottages awaits you. After a short boat trip, you will reach the Lido with its ‘Murazzi' stone embankments. The route continues to Malamocco, an ancient harbour, and the island of Murano, where you can experience the centuries-old art of glassblowing during a demonstration. After a final short boat trip, you will reach the boat dock in Venice.Day 7 - Rest day in Venice
The tour guide will show you the most beautiful places off the popular tourist routes on a walk. Finally, you will have enough time to explore Venice and the islands of the lagoon on your own.Day 8 - Individual journey home from Venice
Disembarkation takes place after breakfast.
Ave Maria
The Ave Maria is an innovative river cruise ship, created from a dredger from the River Po. It was built with a focus on aesthetics and comfort and is ideal for travelling on Italian waterways. The ship fulfils strict safety and environmental standards and is ecologically sustainable, with energy saving, waste water treatment and low bank damage. Enjoy meals in the restaurant with panoramic windows or relax in the air-conditioned lounge with free Wi-Fi and a variety of entertainment options. The sun deck provides the perfect atmosphere for cruising, dining in the open air and chatting with fellow travellers. There is also an area for bicycle parking and battery charging.
The cabins of the Ave Maria:
The cabins are equipped with comfortable low beds (2m x 0.8m), bathroom, large window, individually adjustable air conditioning, locker. Under the beds there is a storage space for luggage 36cm high and 112cm wide.
A total of 17 cabins divided as follows:
Main deck: 4 double/twin cabins 11m²
Lower deck: 10 double/twin cabins 11m² and 3 single cabins 7,5 m²

We reserve the right to make changes to the timetable and programme. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this is not a reason for cancellation free of charge). The same applies to officially ordered lock and/or bridge repairs that have not been announced in advance.
Return journey to Mantua:
We recommend travelling back by train. More than 20 trains run daily between 6 am and 8 pm. The journey takes approx. 2-3 hours and costs approx. € 15,00-50,00 per person, depending on the connection. Organisation is your own responsibility. (Status 2025 - subject to change)
Parking facilities
The cost of the public car park is approx. € 90,00 per week. You are also welcome to park near the railway station for approx. € 10,00 per day. You will receive further details with your travel documents. (Status 2025 - subject to change)
Note for people with limited mobility
The cycle tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. However, in specific cases it is possible to accommodate individual customer requests (e.g. barrier-free room).
Passport and visa requirements
To check in to your hotel you will need a valid passport or ID card.
For citizens of countries outside the Schengen area other regulations may apply. You are responsible for obtaining any visa you may require in good time.
Terms and Conditions of Payment:
The deposit of 10% of the tour price is due at the latest 14 days after receipt of the booking confirmation. The balance must be paid 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
According to our General Terms and Conditions, the customer may withdraw from the contract at any time in writing. In the event of cancellation or non-commencement of travel, the following cancellation fees will become payable:
20% of the tour price up to 84 days before arrival date
40% of the tour price from 83rd to 42nd day before arrival date
60% of the tour price from 41st to 28th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 27th to 1st day before arrival date
100% of the tour price on the day of arrival or no-show
