from/to Amsterdam Boat & Bike 2026 - North Holland - De Willemstad
Explore traditional areas in the flat “polder country” on the North Sea and romantic harbor towns on the Ijsselmeer on your bike and boat trip in the Netherlands. You cycle through the former lake and swamp area, which has been slowly drained with the help of windmills for over 3 centuries. Fertile polder landscapes, quiet cycle paths, the miles of North Sea beach and the breathtaking sand dunes alternate during your cycling and boat vacation in the North Holland. The North Sea Island of Texel is one of the highlights of cycling holidays in the Netherlands for many visitors. Enchanting landscapes, small farming villages and picturesque harbour towns on the Ijsselmeer are typical of the second part of the cycle and boat tour in North Holland. Your cycle and boat tour offers many more sights: the Zaanse Schans open-air museum, the old town of Alkmaar and the harbour towns of Medemblik, Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Volendam. Of course, the canal city of Amsterdam is the highlight of the northern route through the province of North Holland

Back in Alkmaar, the De Willemstad is already waiting for you. In the late afternoon, the ship De Willemstad sails across the North Holland Canal to the naval port of Den Helder.Day 4 - Round trip ´t Horntje, selectable approx. 35 to 50 km
After breakfast, take the large ferry (ticket included) from Den Helder to the island of Texel. Today's circular cycle tour takes you across the largest Dutch North Sea island. You will pass meadows, dune landscapes and picturesque nature reserves. There are numerous opportunities to take a break on the most beautiful beaches during this stage of your cycling and boat vacation in North Holland. We recommend a visit to the “Ecomare” seal breeding station and the well-signposted Thijsseroute through beautiful villages and nature reserves (approx. 40 km). In the late afternoon, take the ferry back to Den Helder, where your ship will be waiting for you.Day 5 - Boat ride from Den Helder to Stavoren, round trip Stavoren approx. 40 or 55 km
During breakfast, your ship De Willemstad crosses the IJsselmeer en route to your next destination. You anchor in Stavoren in the province of Friesland. End the evening in the harbour of Stavoren.Day 6 - Boat ride from Stavoren to Medemblik, from Medemblik via Hoorn to Enkhuizen approx. 40 or 50 km
A new cycling day awaits you on your cycle tour in the Netherlands. Early in the morning, you will sail to Medemblik on the De Willemstad. After breakfast, a short cycle tour takes you over the dyke of the IJsselmeer directly to Enkhuizen. This old town, steeped in history and with a centuries-long shipping tradition, offers a beautiful harbor, a historic town center and the extremely interesting “Zuiderzee Museum”. The rest of the cycle tour takes you via Hoorn through picturesque little farming villages to Enkhuizen. After dinner, a short walk is offered in Enkhuizen.Day 7 - Boat ride from Enkhuizen to Volendam, from Volendam via Waterland to Amsterdam approx. 30 or 50 km
The last cycling stage on your bike and boat trip in the Netherlands is coming up. Early in the morning, your ship will take you to Volendam. From there you cycle through the beautiful “Waterland” with its numerous small lakes and canals, visit a cheese farm and, depending on your mood, make a detour to the beautiful former island of Marken. You will return to the capital Amsterdam through the water-rich Waterland region. The afternoon and evening in Amsterdam can be spent as you wish. If you didn't get to do this on the first day of the bike and boat tour in North Holland, you should definitely make up for it today with the canal tour.Day 8 - Individual departure from Amsterdam
