Day 1 - Individual arrival in PassauEnjoy a stroll through the beautiful old town with the world-largest church organ in the cathedral of Passau and enjoy a delicious “Bavarian Lager” in a typical beer garden before your embarkation is at approx. 4:00pm. Departure will be at 5:00 pm to the Donauschlinge.
Day 2 - Donauschlinge/Engelhartszell–Aschach, approx. 42 kmYou start your cycle holiday in Austria from Engelhartszell and we recommend a visit of Austria's only Trappist monastery, where delicious liqueur are offered. The bike tour leads through the ruggedly romantic Danube Bend at Schlögen, one of the most beautiful sections of the river lined with sleepy farming villages. Along the way, enjoy regional specialties in one of the many cider taverns.
Day 3 - Devin–Bratislava, approx. 15-43 kmA narrow cycle path runs along the fortress complex Devin to the splendid palace of Castle Hof, which boasts one of the most magnificent baroque gardens in Europe. There follows a stretch of untouched countryside and after a short bike tour, you arrive in the vibrant city of Bratislava. A miniature train tour of the Slovakian capital in which Hungarian kings were once crowned is offered optional during your bike and boat holiday on board the MS Carissima. Enjoy a glorious view from the fortress perched on a hill overlooking the city and a walk through the beautifully restored historic city center.
Day 4 - Budapest, excursion to Szentendre, approx. 27-54 km (or day at leisure)During your bike tour in Hungary, Budapest enchants with its famous buildings. On board the MS Carissima a guided tour in Budapest or a detour to the delightful little town of Szentendre with its many artists and galleries is bookable. Get the taste of the fiery Hungarian temperament at a Hungarian folklore show with traditional music and folk dance accompanied by wine and hearty local food (optional).
Day 5 - Baja–Mohacs, approx. 37 kmToday you cycle from the quiet baroque town of Baja that is famous for its fish soup along the flood protection dykes in the Gemenc floodplain and through idyllic river landscapes. At the end of today's stage, you take the ferry to the little town Mohacs, Hungary's most southerly town on the Danube before you go on board the MS Carissima.
Day 6 - Belgrade (day at leisure)Explore the fun-loving Serbian capital at the confluence of the Save and the Danube by bike or bus, take a journey in time from the past to the present and learn about the rise and fall of Yugoslavia (optional). In the evening, Belgrade is bathed in a sea of light. Visit a colorful folklore show with traditional dances from all parts of the country, followed by typical regional specialties in the well-known bohemian district of Skadarlija with lively folk music from a Serbian band (optional).
Day 7 - Katarakt-Strecke/National Park Iron Gate (day at leisure)Experience the stunning fjord-like landscape “Iron Gate” at close quarters from the ship's deck admits the Danube. The river cuts through the Romanian Carpathian Mountains in Rumania and the mighty foothills of the Balkan mountain range. A spectacular landscape with steep gorges, dark forests with historic monuments and impregnable fortresses on the shores that are reflected in the blue waters of the river: this miracle of nature will take your breath away!
Day 8 - Novi Sad–Ilok, approx. 48 kmThe imposing Petrovaradin fortress perches high above the provincial capital of Vojvodina. You cycle along the Danube cycle path in Serbia upstream to the medieval town of Ilok. You take a ferry to reach the gentle foothills of the Fruska Gora, with its orchards, vineyards and idyllic farming villages. Everything in the medieval town of Ilok revolves around wine. During an evening tour of the town, you will have the opportunity to sample some famous Serbian wines at a wine cellar (optional).
Day 9 - Batina–Mohacs, ca. 42 kmIn the border triangle you cycle along the Danube cycle path in Serbia through the never-ending “Backa”, with its small, idyllic villages and endless canola fields. Continue cycling through hardly touched nature in the Nemzeti National Park and with a ferry you reach Mohacs before you go again on board the MS Carissima awaits you.
Day 10 - Kalocsa–Solt, approx. 50 kmToday on your cycle holiday in Hungary you the MS Carissima stops in Kalocsa, home of the “Paprika”. Visit the Paprika Museum you'll learn all there is to know about Hungary's favorite spice. Continue your journey on the well-built cycle path along the flood protection dyke through the vast expanse of the puszta, to Solt, birthplace of the famous conductor Sir George Solti. Vecsey Castle and the library with some 34,000 books are especially worth seeing.
Day 11 - Danube Bend–Esztergom, approx. 43 kmThe Danube is framed by steep wooded hills as it flows through the picturesque, hilly landscape of the “Hungarian Wachau”. Set in the middle of the Danube, the delightful island of Szentendre radiates real puszta romance. As you continue your journey on idyllic cycle paths through picturesque villages you'll be able to experience the Hungarian zest for life at first hand. The dome of the imposing basilica in Esztergom that sits high over the Danube can be seen from far and wide. Visit Hungary's largest church, with its Tuscan-style high altar and its side chapel with red marble walls.
Day 12 - Vienna, bike excursion to Klosterneuburg, Danube IslandAfter so many action-packed days of cycling, you deserve some relaxation. Enjoy the breath-taking view of the idyllic floodplain forest of the Donauauen National Park and the impressive skyline as you sail into Vienna. Go for a ride on the Danube Island – Vienna's favorite recreational area, cycle out to the nearby Klosterneuburg Abbey or wander through the idyllic vineyards on Kahlenberg enjoying magnificent views over the city and the Danube. On board the MS Carissima you can buy tickets for a concert of classic waltz and operetta music in the Schönbrunn palace to end the evening traditionally.
Day 13 - Vienna (day at leisure)Discover Vienna: from the saddle on a guided bike tour or on your own with the HOP ON HOP OFF bus (optional). Ride through the historic city center at a leisurely pace and see the sights from close up. The magnificent Ringstraße will remind you of times long past and inviting coffee houses will tempt you with delicious Viennese cakes and pastries. Afterwards, there's enough time to stroll through the quaint lanes or visit the Naschmarkt, a feast for the senses. End your day in Vienna in traditional fashion at a rustic wine tavern.
Day 14 - Wachau Valley/Krems–Melk, approx. 37 kmThis final stage of your cycle holiday in Austria can best be described as magical! The gentle hilly countryside of the Wachau Valley with its picturesque villages, historic castles and palaces surrounded by apricot trees and terraced vineyards, is one of the loveliest stretches of the river. In Weißenkirchen the cycle path is lined with cosy vintner's taverns and you should definitely treat yourself to a break here (optional wine tasting)!
Day 15 - Arrival in Passau–Individual departure or extra nightsEvery holiday comes to an end – enjoy again the peaceful Danube Valley, a last glance onto the Schlögener Schlinge, before reaching Passau with wonderful impressions. Disembarkation at approx. 10 am and any transfer reservation for your departure please arranged from approx. 11 am.

30% of the tour price from 83th to 42th day before arrival date
60% of the tour price from 41th to 28th day before arrival date
80% of the tour price from 27th to 4th day before arrival date
90% of the tour price from 3rd day before arrival date to the day of arrival or “no show”

After the cycle tour along the Danube cycle path, relax in the wellness area of the Carissima with its sauna and whirlpool and from June to August, enjoy the outdoor swimming pool with its spacious sun deck.

You are looking for a standard, comfortable or luxurious cycling holiday in Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, then, a holiday aboard the Carissima is the right choice!
All 75 de-luxe staterooms have 14 m² and feature a hotel-style double bed, which may be converted to two single beds. The half-height windows on the main deck of the Carissima cannot be opened, the staterooms on the upper and middle deck provide full-size picture windows, which do open. All cabins are equipped with a private bathroom with a shower or bathtub, hair dryer, TV, safe and full air-conditioning. For those who love the luxury: Some cabins on the promenade deck have a connecting door and can be rearranged to a spacious DELUXE-suite with living room and bedroom (prices on request). ECO cabins are located in the front/rear part of the ship (engine noise possible).
2-bed: beds are on ground level, with double bed also used as twin beds
2-bed ECO: in the front or rear part of the boat, weak engine noises are to be heard
1-bed: on the upper deck with a single bed or on the main deck a 2-bed cabin for single use
